Counting down for another Reason!

So I have been a slacker lately and have not blogged for awhile.... So October flew by and I cannot believe that it is the second week in November now.  The last part of October was great with Halloween and all. I love working at Primary Childrens because it is so fun to see how excited the kids get.  One of my co-workers Brad dressed up as Donald Duck and Dr. Andolsek dressed up as Scooby Doo! It was so fun to see how they interacted with the kids! Everyone had such a great time with it.  That night I went to Kort and Russ' for dinner and then helped hand out candy.  Jeanna and Jocee came and visited us and it was hilarious to see how Jocee wanted to help hand out the candy.  The door bell would ring and then she would say don't worry guys I got it..... mind you she is four! It was so cute!!!! We had a lot of fun and it was nice to hang out with the fam for a little while.

So the next week came and it was November! ...... The weather has started to turn cold and you can tell that Winter is on its way.  So the other day I got a text message from my friend Jenn at work saying that Aubrey one of the girls we work with saw a mouse at work! I was so disgusted by this! I was freaking out and thought it will be long gone by the time I got there in the morning.  If you did not know I am dreadfully afraid of mice!!! ( I blame my MOM)! So as I was walking into the clinic the next day I was very cautious and did not want to see a mouse.  I go into the qc area where we sit and started chatting with Jenn and Aubrey.  I was begining to pull out my chair when out of the corner of my eye I saw something brownish black on my chair! I used a couple of curse words and then began to laugh and cry and get as far away from my chair as possible!!!!!! Then the girls said Kandus it is ok.... it is only a toy mouse!   I was laughing and crying so loud that Dr. Hoeg came out of her office and had to see what all the comotion was about.  The girls kept saying I wish we would have recorded your reaction.  They did not realize how afraid I get and could not believe how I reacted.  I was a little mad, but soon found the humor in it.  I just hope they realize that I am really afraid of mice and do not try it again!
My friend the mouse
So this last weekend it snowed on Saturday! It was beautiful! I woke up early because I had to help Leesh with her Super Saturday for her ward.  As I was driving I could not help but take a couple of pics of the snow.  It was a nice calm morning and it was very peaceful....especially as I drove past the Temple.

My neighborhood with the first snow

So beautiful!
So finally the reason for another count down! I am leaving in 15 days to go to Israel!!!!!!!!!!! I am really excited about this.  I have worked really hard and took a lot of extra call the last few months.  Many of the Doctors have said to me .... does anyone else take call around here.  I know that it will all be worth it and it will be awesome to have the trip paid for in full before I go! I am getting close to finishing the four gospels and hope to have it finished before my trip.  I am so thankful for this opportunity to go and learn more about the Savior.  I hope to strengthen my testimony and be able to share this great experience with others!  I cannot wait to share pictures and my experiences with all of you! Tonight is my pre-travel meeting for the trip and it has made realize that it is going to be here really quick.  Which also makes me think that Thanksgiving is on the way too! I am so thankful for this time of year and that we can reflect on all of our blessings.  I am so Thankful for the Gospel, Nik, my Family, and all my supportive Friends!!!! I feel truly blessed!

1/4 of the Mission done and still counting!

Nik and Me at Temple Square Christmas 2010

So this last week we have passed the Six Month mark for Nik! I cannot believe that he has been gone for over six months! Yay we have a 1/4 of the mission done!!!!! There have been times where it feels like it is flying by and then other days where it feels like it is not moving at all.  I am sure he feels the same way! I am just so proud of him and he is doing such an awesome job.  I always look forward to his emails and letters every week! They are truely the highlight of my week! You can ask anybody how disappointed I am if I do not hear from him! It is my life line to him!
So anyways enough about that.... This past Sunday I had the opportunity to go down town to Regional Conference.  What a blessing that was! There were so many inspired talks that I could not write stuff down quick enough.  Elder Bednars talk was so spiritual! I kept getting chills up and down my spine.  He talked a lot about how having a Testimony is not just enough.  We also need to be truely converted and work on this conversion process because it is on going.  That is so true!!!!! Just because we know that it is true does not mean that we stop doing the small things.  We need to work on this everyday! I know that we are not perfect, but we are all trying to become like Christ.  We need to be the best that we can...... so that when we meet our Maker we can say that we truely did all that we could! I was just blown away by the Spirit I felt and the Love that my Savior and Heavenly Father have for me! The thing that hit me the most was that these are the exact principles that Nik is teaching out in the field! How great is that! I am so honored that I got to attend this great Conference and that  I get to be apart of this great work.  I want you all to know that I am a Daughter of God and that He loves me and not only that........... He loves you! :)

The call you never want to get!

On Monday the 10th of October I had not been feeling well.  I went home after work and totally crashed.  I slept for a really long time and woke up to my phone ringing just after midnight.  I saw that it was my sister calling me and thought the only reason she would be calling this late is if something is wrong.  I answered my phone and said Kort what is wrong? She replied that Mom and Dad had been in an accident.  They have been T-boned and we do not know what else.  I told her I would meet them at the hospital and we would go from there.
Kort called me once they got to the accident and said that Mom was having problems breathing and that there was a lot of blood all over her face.  They took her by ambulance to Jordan Valley Hospital.  I met them there and was relieved once I could see my Mom.  The impact was on my Moms side and so My Dad was doing pretty good, just banged up a bit and was really sore.  I found out then that a lady totally ran a red light and slammed into my parents! I was upset by this and could not believe that someone could hit them and then not even go see if they were ok after the accident.
We stayed for over four hours at the hospital and found out that Mom had a broken nose, strained neck, a chest wall contusion, and lots of scratches on her skin.  The experience at Jordan Valley was aweful and I would not go back to there ER ever again.  The nurse came in once to give my Mom meds and that was it.  I ended up going through the cupboards to find towels to clean my Mom up because she was bleeding and had dried blood all over her.  The ER Physician came in and tried to put my Moms nose back into place.... He did not offer any more meds and just put it in without having a nurse there.  All of a sudden my Mom is saying that she cannot breathe because all this blood is running down her throat.  I sat her up and all this blood went everywhere! The Doc looked at me and then said, oh maybe I shoud get her a basin?  I wanted to say really????? DUH!!!!! I ran over to the cupboard and got another towel and wet clothes to put against her nose and get her cleaned up again.  The Doc left and then never came back.  He just sent another nurse into discharge us. This was just a little of what happened that night and there was a lot more that went on than just that, but lets say that I was not impressed with any of the staff!
Finally we got my Mom home that night and got her and my Dad to bed.  I went home slept for a couple of hours and had to wake back up and get myself to work! Tuesday the 11th was the longest day ever! I just wanted to be there helping my Mom and I could not! Once I got off work I went and spent the evening with her.  She was really sore and I could not believe all the bruises that her and my Dad had.  I went home that night and was able to talk on the recorder to Nik.  I finally had my break down moment and poor Nik got to hear it.  I think I had been going going and going that it finally hit me that things could have been a lot worse! I am so thankful that my parents were watched over and kept safe! That night in the hospital I was very touched by the love and concern that my Father showed for my Mother.  He just kept telling her how much he loved her.  It made me think of how lucky I am to know that Nik loves me like that!
The next day was not any better.  My brother called me and told me that my Mom had been throwing up, having nausea, a migraine, and chest pains all through the night and could not keep anything down.  So I called Kort and told her to get my Mom to the Riverton ER and get her checked. It was nice because I was working at the Primary Childrens Outpatient Clinic so I could just walk over and check on her while she was in the ER at Riverton.  They started an IV on her as soon as she got there and gave her some meds through the IV, which really helped her.  Side note.... Jordan Valley did not even start a IV on my Mom and she should have had all the trauma protocol! They also did not scan her head.  So I was really worried that she could have had a bleed or something because I have seen the worst working at the hospital.  So to make a long story short she got checked from head to toe and they got everything under control! She was feeling a lot better once they could get her some meds for her head and the nausea! They also gave us a number of a plastic surgeon to get my Moms nose fixed.  She just went in this last Friday and had it fixed.  She is doing much better, but has had quite the rough last couple of weeks! I am just so thankful to Heavenly Father for watching out for them and keeping them safe! It could have ended a lot differently and I am just so blessed and thankful.  I love my parents so much and am so thankful to them for all that they do for me! We are truely blessed! I love you MOM and Dad!

Here is what the car looked like..... Russ got some pics of it because they made it to the scene of the accident!
So SCARY!!!!!!!

October Birthdays!!!

Kort and Russ
Happy Birthday to Russ and Kortney!!!! We celebrated there Birthdays at the begining of the Month..... so that they could go out to Wendover for the Trace Adkins concert over there birthdays! We all got together one Sunday and had a nice dinner and had yummy cake and ice cream! I was in charge of the cake so I went and bought a white chocolate rasberry bundt cake with cream cheese frosting from Nothing Bundt Cakes! I totally recommend them.... They are quite pricey, but so worth it! It was delicious! I am so thankful to have Russ and Kort be apart of my life.  They have shown me so much love and support over the last few years! I hope that you guys have had a good birthday month and just remember that I love you!!!! :)

Conference Weekend

This last weekend was great! It was Conference plus I was not on call and I got to spend time with my Family and Friends! Friday night I went to dinner with Leesha and then hung out and chatted for a little bit.  Then on Saturday I watched the morning and part of the afternoon session of Conference.  There was some really good talks that I learned a lot from.  I really enjoyed the talk about having children and that it is between you, your spouse, and the Lord.  Not that I am having any children anytime soon, but I just really liked the message that was conveyed in the talk.  Later on Saturday Jeanna and I met up and went up the canyon to Brighton.  We went to Silver Lake and walked around to see the fall colors.  It was really beautiful up there.  It was so nice to get out of the City and head up to where you can think about life and what God has really done for you.  Everywhere you look you can see that God created this earth.  How blessed we are!!! The colors of the leaves were awesome and our walk was really good too.  When we were coming around the corner we saw a Moose! Jeanna wanted to get a really good picture of it, so she hiked down to get a little closer..... mind you she was in her dress shoes that have a little heel on them! She did however get a really great picture of the moose! After going up the canyon we met up with my Family for dinner after the guys got done with the Priesthood session.  We met them at El Farol and so there was Mom and Dad,  Me and Jeanna, Kort and Russ, Kendall and Hayley, Britt and Mike, and the Spoeirri Family.  We had a lot of fun talking and laughing.

Sunday was another good day because another day of no call and spending time with the Family. I got to go to my parents for Conference.  I got there in time for a really yummy breakfast and to listen to the morning session of Conference.  I loved when the Prophet talked about how we need to be communicating with our Heavenly Father.  He said that if we are not doing it on a daily basis then to begin now.  I love the idea that we can go to Him at anytime whether we are in need or if we are just saying are daily prayers. There was also another talk by a women I forgot her name, but I loved her talk.  She spoke on how Fathers should be showing there Daughters that they love there Mothers and that the daughters know they are from a Royal Birth.  My Dad has always shown my Mother love and I am so grateful for his example and for his love for our Savior Jesus Christ.  My Dad has always bore testimony to us that he knows that Christ lives and that we can be with Him again someday if we live worthy.  I am so grateful for my Mom and Dad and for the testimonies they have and for there examples.  I also enjoyed the afternoon Conference with my Family and then headed down town to go hang out with Niks Family.  I enjoyed having dinner with the Johnson's and playing games.  We always have such a great time and it is so nice that they include me in there Family while Nik is gone.  Well life has been crazy, but it has also been good...... and I am sure that there will be much more to write about soon! :)

Five Months and Counting

This last week on the 20th Nik has been gone for FIVE MONTHS!!!!! It was a hard week for me and I realized how much I missed him.  Then I started looking at the calendar and realizing that five months is really not that much, but at least it is something.  I am just so proud of Nik and his decision to serve the Lord.  It has been really hard at times, but I know that Heavenly Father is looking out for the both of us.  I have seen such growth in him and also in our relationship together.  It has been a blessing for the both of us and I am very grateful that we have this opportunity to learn and grow.  Next month is six months and that means a 1/4 of the mission done! (Not that I am counting or anything)! :) I just want to say how much I appreciate all the love and support my friends and family have shown me.  I could not do this without loving family and friends.... and also Niks family who is my second family! I am just so happy to be a member of the true church and grateful that Nik gets to help others come unto Christ! We are truely Blessed! Love to all! :)

Marry Poppins!

Another exciting night for me this month was when Jeanna and I went to Marry Poppins the musical.  Jeanna had a friend who could not use her tickets and so we bought them off of her for a great price.  We ended up going on the 16th of September and had such a great time! To start the night off we went to dinner at this little bistro across the street from Capitol Theatre.  The bistro was all organic foods.  We both had a really delicious sandwich and then I got an organic Dr. Pepper.  It was really good..... and really sweet!
Then we headed across the way to Marry Poppins.  We were like two little school girls, so excited for the show to begin! We bought a couple of little things for us and our families.  My Mom and Sister love Marry Poppins as much as I do, so I had to get them a little something where they were not there with me.  The show began and I was loving it! I would totally recommend going and seeing it if you have the chance.  It is a wonderful show and the music was excellent! I had such a great night and I am so glad that Jeanna asked me to go with her! Thank you Jeanna you ROCK!!!!  I am so glad to have such a wonderful friend.  Jeanna has been there for me when I have really needed someone! I feel like Heavenly Father truely looks out for us in our times of need and puts those people in our lives that we need at that time! I am so blessed and am grateful for her.  To the many adventures to come! I cannot wait!

Greek Festival

I cannot believe how fast the past couple of months have gone by.  Maybe it is because I am working so much and all the days go by so quick that they blend together.  The last few weekends have been really fun.  I went with Jeanna to the Greek Festival on the 9th of September.  They had really awesome food there.  We stood in line for about an hour or so just to try all the Greek deliciousness! It was soooo worth it! We also paid like twenty dollars for two containers of dessert.  We took it back to Jeanna's house and shared, but the greek doughnuts were so worth the money! Wow is all I have to say! One of the funnest parts of the night was when Jeanna and I talked into the digital recorder for Nik.  We laughed and laughed the whole time.... hopefully he will be able to understand what we were talking about.  Just before I was leaving Jeanna's daughter Jocee came up to me and said that she wanted me to tell Nik that she loved him.  It was so cute.  So I turned the recorder on and let Jocee say that she loved him and then I said that I loved him more and Jocee said no Kandus I love him more.  So I said to her how much do you love him and she put her arms out really big.  It was really cute and I know that Nik is going to love it when he hears it! :)

Glasses and hearing problems

Yes I now have glasses!!!! I am getting older and have been having a really hard time seeing far away.  This has been going on for awhile, but I finally went in and got my eyes checked and found out that I need glasses.  Big surprise..... not really :)  I can finally see the lines while I am driving at night! That is a huge plus to me and to all of you too!
Some other things have been happening to me lately and am now just barely letting people know about it.... so here it goes.  The last five months I have been having episodes of hearing loss in my right ear.  I lose all hearing and then the room starts spinning.  After about ten minutes I will start to hear hissing and crackling in my ear and then the hearing comes back a little and then it takes a couple of days for it to really come back.  After these episodes I am really tired and get a really bad headache.  I also feel like there is a lot of pressure in my ear.  So it started happening right before Nik left and I just brushed it off due to stress.  I had another episode after he left and thought the same thing.  It happened once on the cruise and thought it was due to being sea sick.  I kept having these episodes through June and July and now again in August.  So finally I told my Mom about it and she got really mad at me and said that I needed to get in and see a doctor.
I finally went to an Ears, Nose, and Throat Doc and was explaining to him about my symptoms and what was happening.  He looked at me and said it sounds like you have Meniere's Disease.  I was like I have no idea what that is.... so he explained that it is an inner ear disorder where two channels of fluid communicate with each other.  These channels have two different salt contents and what will happen is that I get a little tare in the channel and the fluids will mix and that is when I lose my hearing and get the vertigo.  He said that they do not know why it happens and that there is not a cure for this disease.  The only thing that they found that will help is to not retain as much water, which will help with not having as much water in your inner ear.  They also like you to eat a low sodium diet to help with the retention of water. The low sodium diet will help allieviate the symptoms, so I have been trying to eat a low sodium diet.
I did not realize how much sodium is in everything we eat.  It is so crazy to look at the food labels and see how much is in what we eat.  I have started to feel better and the pressure has left behind my ear, so that is a plus.  I have had a few more tests and we will see what they say.  The hearing test showed that I have lost some low tones and high tones.  So when I say I really can't hear I am not lying!  I have another hearing test in a month because the doc wants to see if my hearing changes.  We will see..... I am just glad that I listened to my Mom and went to the doc and he was able to help me and make me start feeling better.

More stuff in August!

A couple of weekends ago I went to my Gandma Fisher's Family Reunion.  I went with her and my parents.  We had a good time and Grandma did especially. She got to see all of her living sisters and I got to meet a lot of my Mom's cousins and a lot of old people :).  I am so glad that I had my camera because I was able to take a really cute photo of my Grandma with her Sisters! They were all so cute and had so much fun catching up with each other!  I have always looked up to my Grandma Fisher.  She is truely an example to me and has showed me how I should be living my life.  I am so blessed to have her as my Grandma and am so lucky that she has taught me so much!

That same weekend I had Britt, Kort, and Marie come out to my house for dinner.  We had not seen each other for awhile and had wanted to have a girls night.  Britt had told us that her and Mike are buying a house and so we headed to the model home.  Her new house is going to be so cute!!! After we got done looking at the model home we thought Kort's tire looked a little low.  So we pulled into the gas station and filled up the tire.  I was sitting in the car and thought it was so funny to see the 3 other girls get out and check it.  Apparently it takes at least 3 girls to check a tire! I loved it!

Marie, Britt, and Kort checking the car tire!
This last weekend was really fun.  Leesha's birthday was on August 31st and she turned 30!!! So of course we had to do something big! We ended up taking her up to Park City for the night.  We got a hotel room at the Marriott in Park City.  So funny story about the hotel...... I had a reservation at the Yarrow Resort and then got really bad anxiety about staying there.  So the day that we were going up I hurried and canceled the Yarrow and ended up with the Marriott.  I was so much happier with this decision and the girls all made fun of me, but I think they appreciated it too!
We went to a mexican place up by Alpine Slides for dinner.  On the way to dinner we were walking through the parking lot and saw a moose with her two babies.  That was awesome! Dinner was a lot of fun and we did a lot of laughing! The waiter was awesome and brought out a sombrero and sang to Leesh for her bday.  After dinner we went back to the hotel and chilled and went to bed.  The next morning we got up and got ready and headed to swiss days in Midway.  I have never been there before but it was so much fun.  We all got some reallly cute stuff for our houses and had fun looking at all the different booths.  After swiss days we went to lunch at Red Rock Brewery and had some really yummy food.  Later that afternoon we ended up at the Tanger outlets and shopped away.  Then we finally headed home.  We had such a good time catching up and spending time together! I love these girls so much and am so thankful to have them in my life! They have always been there for me and I am so glad that we have all stayed so close to one another..... and most of all HAPPY 30TH BDAY LEESH!!!!!
