Five Months and Counting

This last week on the 20th Nik has been gone for FIVE MONTHS!!!!! It was a hard week for me and I realized how much I missed him.  Then I started looking at the calendar and realizing that five months is really not that much, but at least it is something.  I am just so proud of Nik and his decision to serve the Lord.  It has been really hard at times, but I know that Heavenly Father is looking out for the both of us.  I have seen such growth in him and also in our relationship together.  It has been a blessing for the both of us and I am very grateful that we have this opportunity to learn and grow.  Next month is six months and that means a 1/4 of the mission done! (Not that I am counting or anything)! :) I just want to say how much I appreciate all the love and support my friends and family have shown me.  I could not do this without loving family and friends.... and also Niks family who is my second family! I am just so happy to be a member of the true church and grateful that Nik gets to help others come unto Christ! We are truely Blessed! Love to all! :)

Nik emailed this pic this last week..... They went to the zoo on there p-day. (He is the only Red head) :)

Marry Poppins!

Another exciting night for me this month was when Jeanna and I went to Marry Poppins the musical.  Jeanna had a friend who could not use her tickets and so we bought them off of her for a great price.  We ended up going on the 16th of September and had such a great time! To start the night off we went to dinner at this little bistro across the street from Capitol Theatre.  The bistro was all organic foods.  We both had a really delicious sandwich and then I got an organic Dr. Pepper.  It was really good..... and really sweet!
Then we headed across the way to Marry Poppins.  We were like two little school girls, so excited for the show to begin! We bought a couple of little things for us and our families.  My Mom and Sister love Marry Poppins as much as I do, so I had to get them a little something where they were not there with me.  The show began and I was loving it! I would totally recommend going and seeing it if you have the chance.  It is a wonderful show and the music was excellent! I had such a great night and I am so glad that Jeanna asked me to go with her! Thank you Jeanna you ROCK!!!!  I am so glad to have such a wonderful friend.  Jeanna has been there for me when I have really needed someone! I feel like Heavenly Father truely looks out for us in our times of need and puts those people in our lives that we need at that time! I am so blessed and am grateful for her.  To the many adventures to come! I cannot wait!

This is the only pic I got in the theatre because no photography is allowed... I was just happy to get this one photo!

Greek Festival

I cannot believe how fast the past couple of months have gone by.  Maybe it is because I am working so much and all the days go by so quick that they blend together.  The last few weekends have been really fun.  I went with Jeanna to the Greek Festival on the 9th of September.  They had really awesome food there.  We stood in line for about an hour or so just to try all the Greek deliciousness! It was soooo worth it! We also paid like twenty dollars for two containers of dessert.  We took it back to Jeanna's house and shared, but the greek doughnuts were so worth the money! Wow is all I have to say! One of the funnest parts of the night was when Jeanna and I talked into the digital recorder for Nik.  We laughed and laughed the whole time.... hopefully he will be able to understand what we were talking about.  Just before I was leaving Jeanna's daughter Jocee came up to me and said that she wanted me to tell Nik that she loved him.  It was so cute.  So I turned the recorder on and let Jocee say that she loved him and then I said that I loved him more and Jocee said no Kandus I love him more.  So I said to her how much do you love him and she put her arms out really big.  It was really cute and I know that Nik is going to love it when he hears it! :)

Glasses and hearing problems

Yes I now have glasses!!!! I am getting older and have been having a really hard time seeing far away.  This has been going on for awhile, but I finally went in and got my eyes checked and found out that I need glasses.  Big surprise..... not really :)  I can finally see the lines while I am driving at night! That is a huge plus to me and to all of you too!
Some other things have been happening to me lately and am now just barely letting people know about it.... so here it goes.  The last five months I have been having episodes of hearing loss in my right ear.  I lose all hearing and then the room starts spinning.  After about ten minutes I will start to hear hissing and crackling in my ear and then the hearing comes back a little and then it takes a couple of days for it to really come back.  After these episodes I am really tired and get a really bad headache.  I also feel like there is a lot of pressure in my ear.  So it started happening right before Nik left and I just brushed it off due to stress.  I had another episode after he left and thought the same thing.  It happened once on the cruise and thought it was due to being sea sick.  I kept having these episodes through June and July and now again in August.  So finally I told my Mom about it and she got really mad at me and said that I needed to get in and see a doctor.
I finally went to an Ears, Nose, and Throat Doc and was explaining to him about my symptoms and what was happening.  He looked at me and said it sounds like you have Meniere's Disease.  I was like I have no idea what that is.... so he explained that it is an inner ear disorder where two channels of fluid communicate with each other.  These channels have two different salt contents and what will happen is that I get a little tare in the channel and the fluids will mix and that is when I lose my hearing and get the vertigo.  He said that they do not know why it happens and that there is not a cure for this disease.  The only thing that they found that will help is to not retain as much water, which will help with not having as much water in your inner ear.  They also like you to eat a low sodium diet to help with the retention of water. The low sodium diet will help allieviate the symptoms, so I have been trying to eat a low sodium diet.
I did not realize how much sodium is in everything we eat.  It is so crazy to look at the food labels and see how much is in what we eat.  I have started to feel better and the pressure has left behind my ear, so that is a plus.  I have had a few more tests and we will see what they say.  The hearing test showed that I have lost some low tones and high tones.  So when I say I really can't hear I am not lying!  I have another hearing test in a month because the doc wants to see if my hearing changes.  We will see..... I am just glad that I listened to my Mom and went to the doc and he was able to help me and make me start feeling better.

More stuff in August!

A couple of weekends ago I went to my Gandma Fisher's Family Reunion.  I went with her and my parents.  We had a good time and Grandma did especially. She got to see all of her living sisters and I got to meet a lot of my Mom's cousins and a lot of old people :).  I am so glad that I had my camera because I was able to take a really cute photo of my Grandma with her Sisters! They were all so cute and had so much fun catching up with each other!  I have always looked up to my Grandma Fisher.  She is truely an example to me and has showed me how I should be living my life.  I am so blessed to have her as my Grandma and am so lucky that she has taught me so much!

That same weekend I had Britt, Kort, and Marie come out to my house for dinner.  We had not seen each other for awhile and had wanted to have a girls night.  Britt had told us that her and Mike are buying a house and so we headed to the model home.  Her new house is going to be so cute!!! After we got done looking at the model home we thought Kort's tire looked a little low.  So we pulled into the gas station and filled up the tire.  I was sitting in the car and thought it was so funny to see the 3 other girls get out and check it.  Apparently it takes at least 3 girls to check a tire! I loved it!

This last weekend was really fun.  Leesha's birthday was on August 31st and she turned 30!!! So of course we had to do something big! We ended up taking her up to Park City for the night.  We got a hotel room at the Marriott in Park City.  So funny story about the hotel...... I had a reservation at the Yarrow Resort and then got really bad anxiety about staying there.  So the day that we were going up I hurried and canceled the Yarrow and ended up with the Marriott.  I was so much happier with this decision and the girls all made fun of me, but I think they appreciated it too!
We went to a mexican place up by Alpine Slides for dinner.  On the way to dinner we were walking through the parking lot and saw a moose with her two babies.  That was awesome! Dinner was a lot of fun and we did a lot of laughing! The waiter was awesome and brought out a sombrero and sang to Leesh for her bday.  After dinner we went back to the hotel and chilled and went to bed.  The next morning we got up and got ready and headed to swiss days in Midway.  I have never been there before but it was so much fun.  We all got some reallly cute stuff for our houses and had fun looking at all the different booths.  After swiss days we went to lunch at Red Rock Brewery and had some really yummy food.  Later that afternoon we ended up at the Tanger outlets and shopped away.  Then we finally headed home.  We had such a good time catching up and spending time together! I love these girls so much and am so thankful to have them in my life! They have always been there for me and I am so glad that we have all stayed so close to one another..... and most of all HAPPY 30TH BDAY LEESH!!!!!

August 2011.....Busy Busy Busy

So this last month has been really busy! To start out with I went to Las Vegas for another Ultrasound Conference.  I went to the Neuro Conference and I learned a ton.  The Conference started on Friday the 12th and went to the 14th.  When I decided that I was going to go to the Conference I told Kort and Jeanna about it and said that they should come with and we could go see Phantom of the Opera.  They were sold as soon as I said that!
We made are way down there on that Thursday and went to the Bellagio and looked around and then made are way over to Serendipity 3 for dinner. It was really good.... I totally recommend the frozen hot chocolate!!! It was DELICIOUS!  We then walked around the strip a little bit.  It was sooooo Hot!!!! You could feel the heat coming off the pavement! We ended up going over to the Coke Factory.  Kort and Jeanna had never done the cokes from around the world.  I had done this the last time I came to Vegas with Leesh.... So I knew what they were in for.  There are some really tasty drinks, but there is also a lot of them that are not good and you usually end up with quite the funny face. I had my camera aimed and ready for when they began! Here are some pics from the begining of the trip!

I stuck with the one that I liked! :)
The next day was Friday and the Conference started that afternoon.  Kort, Jeanna, and me got up and went to an early lunch at Johnny Rockets! It was way yummy too! I then took off for the Conference while the girls went to the pool! I think they were the lucky ones! They got to see the sun while I was stuck indoors for most of the trip.  Friday was also my one year with Nik!! I cannot believe how fast that year went.  Now if the next two will go that fast I will be one happy girl! I am so grateful for Nik and his willingness to serve the Lord. It has not been way easy, but I know that we will both be blessed and that we are also both really growing during this process! I love him soooo much! I am a lucky girl to have him be apart of my life......So anyways I decided that for my one year that we needed to celebrate even if Nik is gone on his mission, so we went to see Phantom of the Opera that night.  Oh my gosh it was excellent! Goose bumps from head to toe the entire time! It was amazing! I am so glad that we went to a show while we were there! After the show we just walked the other end of the strip.  We stopped for some dessert and then headed back to the hotel.  It was a really good way to spend my one year.... with people that I love and people that love Nik! :)

The next day was Saturday and we decided to go get pizza for lunch before I left the girls again to go to the Conference.  I was really happy because I was totally having a great hair day! That does not happen all the time. So I kept telling Jeanna and Kort that we needed pics before I went to the Conference.  So here are my good hair day pics so that I could send one to Nik.  It was also quite funny because we did not notice but we all had the same color on that day! We Rock!!!

Later Saturday night once I was done with the Conference we went for dinner at a place called Brio! They are actually building one over by Fashion Place Mall and I totally loved it.  My friend Jenn that I work with was down in Vegas with her husband for the weekend.  He is going to PA school there and she is commuting back and forth.  Kort also had one of her clients down there in training at Brio for the management position back her in Salt Lake.  So we met up with all of our friends and had a nice dinner! We had such a good time laughing and eating that the night seemed to fly by!

The Girls!

After dinner we went back to the hotel and relaxed for a little bit. There was a poolside concert going on and Jeanna really wanted to go. So I went with her and the funny thing is that she got asked for her ID to get in..... Apparently I look old! :)..... But we had fun sitting down by the pool listening to music!

Jeanna and Me at the concert
Sunday was the last day of the Conference. We got up and packed and ready to leave.  We ended up going over to the outlets and found some killer deals!  After the outlets I had to hurry to the Conference and the girls just hung out at the hotel where the Conference was being held.  Once it was all over we packed up and headed back to good old Salt Lake! We had a great time together and I am so glad that the girls went with me! We now have lots of fun memories together and lots of inside jokes.  All I have to say is the Price of Cotton has gone up! That is for Kort and Jeanna! I love you girls!!!! :)

Kort on the way home.... Yes I look smart with Jeanna's glasses!

Jeanna..... Look at me! :)

Me on the way home.... Thankful that the Conference was over because my brain was fried!
