Day at Sea and Juneau Alaska

Looking out while at Sea
The first night of the cruise was great.  The waters were calm and we had a nice evening at dinner and just hanging out around the ship.  Through the night the waters got really rough and the wind picked up.  There were a few times that I felt like I was going to fall out of bed.  I have been on a cruise before and did just fine, but that next morning was awful.  I got up and got showered and was just sitting on the bed feeling yucky.  I felt like my head was all foggy and the room kept spinning.  Kendall looked at me and said I am getting the medicine from Mom and you are going to take it.  So I took the darn medicine and then was alright for most of the trip.

That second day at Sea we did some walking around when I was not sleeping. It felt really nice to get out and walk around the ship.  It was quite cold but the fresh air felt really good when I was not feeling so hot.  This is a pic of Kort and Kendall on one of the many outings that day.

Even thought I did not feel well I got up and ready for the day.  That second night was formal night for dinner,  so we got dressed up and headed down there.  Kendall and my Dad both had escargot for there appetizers... no thank you is all I have to say.  It looked really gross and I included a pic of Kendall eating one.  We went to the show after that and had fun walking around the ship and seeing what was going on.  We were all just so excited because the next day we actually got to get off the boat.

The third day was much better.  We pulled into Juneau that morning and what a sight it was! There were clouds all around the mountains and it made for some spectacular pictures.  It was amazing to see Juneau and think that it is the Capital of Alaska.  It is so small and quaint that you would not think that it would be the Capital.  It was nice to be able to get off the boat that day and do some exploring around town.  We went shopping in the little shops that were scattered throughout town.  It reminded me a lot of main street in Park City.

For lunch that day we ate at the Red Dog Saloon.  It was this little bar that did hamburgers and other stuff along with drinks.  The atmosphere was really fun and they had a guy playing the piano and entertaining you while you ate.  The floor was completely covered in saw dust.  That was a little wierd at first, but you got used to it. :) The hamburger was really awesome and the diet coke was even better (or maybe I was just really hungry).

After eating we hung outside the Saloon because the tour guides for fishing were going to meet us there.  We met up with them and they took all of us to get our fishing license.  Kort was the only one who did not buy one because she was just along for the ride as she would say. We finally made it to the fishing boat and got out on the water.  Looking around made you really think of what a wonderful world we really live in. Heavenly Father has blessed us with so much and we take things for granted all of the time.  It turned out to be a beautiful day.  We had been so worried that it was going to be cold and awful that when the sun was shinning it was a pleasant surprise! On the way to where we were going to fish we saw a whale.  It was so cool.... they stopped the boat and let us watch for a little while and try and get some pics.  After we had fished and not had a bite they let us pull up some crab pots. Kendall was the brave one and pulled them up and actually touched some of the crab that was in there. We had to measure them and see if they were even big enough to keep.... it was like on the deadliest catch.  It was fun!  After a great day the tour guides took us back to the ship and we went to dinner and then just hung out around the boat.  Even though we did not catch anything it was just great to be with my Family having a great time and enjoying some of the wonderful scenery that Heavenly Father has blessed us with! All I have to say is AMAZING!
